Endometriosis Action Month: When Period Pain Isn’t “Just Part of Life”

March 1, 2026

March is Endometriosis Action Month, raising awareness of a condition affecting around 1 in 10 women. Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the womb lining grows elsewhere in the body, often causing pain and other symptoms. Unfortunately, many people wait years for diagnosis, making awareness vital.

Symptoms to Look Out For

Symptoms vary but commonly include:

  • Severe period pain that affects daily life
  • Ongoing pelvic pain
  • Pain during or after sex
  • Heavy or irregular periods
  • Difficulty getting pregnant

Other symptoms can include bloating, fatigue, lower back pain, or pain when going to the toilet during periods.

If you notice these symptoms, it’s important to seek medical advice.

How Chelmsford Private GPs Can Help

We provide personalised assessments, investigate symptoms, and arrange referrals to specialists or scans if needed. We aim to diagnose and manage symptoms as early as possible.

Sexual Health Services
Pelvic pain and bleeding symptoms can overlap with sexual health conditions. We offer STI screening, contraception advice, and support for pain during sex, taking a holistic approach to your care.
